FAFSA Requirement for All Graduating Seniors 2021-2022 and After
All graduating seniors, starting with the 2021-2022 school year, will be required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as a graduation requirement. TheTexas Education Agency included this addition to the graduation requirements in 2019 as part of HB 3.. Students must provide proof of a successful submission of the FAFSA before being allowed to graduate.
Pell Grant eligibility is determined from information submitted on the FAFSA. Students are required to complete the FAFSA in order to receive financial aid, including scholarships, grants, and loans, from colleges and universities.
The first step for the application process is for the student and the parent to apply for FSA IDs. Both the parent and the student need to have these IDs before applying for financial aid with the FAFSA.
