October is School Priority Month
DISTRICTS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL PRIORITY MONTH OCTOBER 2018
(Austin, TX) – Make Education a Priority (MEaP), a campaign under Friends of Texas Public Schools, invites school districts to reserve the month of October and participate in the statewide biennium event, School Priority Month. Districts are encouraged to invite elected officials of every kind – legislators, sheriffs, judges, commissioners, city councils, mayors, county positions and more – to visit a school. Through campus tours, elected civic leaders can experience firsthand the great work taking place in our local public schools. This is an opportunity to foster engagement, promote partnerships, and exhibit a shared responsibility.

Friends of Texas Public Schools is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, grassroots organization dedicated to restoring public confidence in our schools by promoting their many strengths and achievements. We believe the people of Texas have a right to know that, in spite of the many challenges they face, our public schools are achieving more today than ever in their history, and that the incessant, negative and oftentimes disrespectful conversation about public education is counterproductive to progress.
