Dual Credit Opportunities
Prairie Valley ISD offers dual credit college courses in partnership with North Central Texas College via online learning. Junior and Senior students may take Freshman English Literature and Composition, United States History, British Literature, and Government and Economics. Other courses include, but are not limited to: College Algebra, Psychology, Sociology, and Art Appreciation. These courses count for high school credit as well as college credit. Students are able to earn as many as thirty college hours prior to their high school graduation. These courses enable students to enter college with almost enough hours to be considered a sophomore. Students may take dual credit courses if their overall Grade Point Average (GPA) is at least a 3.0 or better. Students may only take two courses per semester. For additional information, contact the school counselor.
Students may apply for dual credit scholarships. Applications for scholarships are available on a student's personal MY NCTC website. Students must complete the application for admission prior to being able to apply for scholarships. The deadline for applying for the spring is October 15 and the deadline for applying for the fall is April 15. Students who qualify for the free lunch program are granted a tuition and fee waiver for their college courses.
